The Agency for Real Estate Cadaster of the Republic of Macedonia recently came into possession of a digital high-precision relative gravimeter, type SCINTREX CG-6 Autograv. Its precision in determining the relative value of Earth’s acceleration is +/- 5 micro-gals.
The gravimeter has applications in numerous fields, and it is intended for measuring the relative value of acceleration of Earth’s gravity. The data from the measurement are used: in mining, geology, hydrology, seismology, for designing and constructing road and railroad infrastructure, dams, in meteorology, and for other purposes.
On the other hand, the data from the gravimetric measurements are of exceptional importance for defining the height benchmark system of the country, but also for determining the geoid, i.e. the zero surface level, from which practically the heights of the points are determined. It directly affects the accuracy of determining geospatial data, i.e. the coordinates of characteristics points, which define the real estate in the real estate cadaster.
Not only does Macedonia possess such type of instrument for the first time, from the latest generation of relative gravimeters, this one is the only one in the region as well.
