XXVI Congress of the International Federation of Surveyors

XXVI Congress of the International Federation of Surveyors – FIG was held in Istanbul, Turkey, in the period from the 6th to the 11th of May. The representatives of the Agency for Real Estate Cadastre of Republic of Macedonia and the Chamber of Surveyors of Republic of Macedonia participated on this big and significant event, important for the professional surveyor community.

This year, the Congress, besides FIG’s General Assembly which was held in two parts, had four plenary sessions, eleven technical sessions divided into 8 groups and meeting of the operational commissions. Exhibit of professional private companies and several public institutions was also held within the Congress.

Important topics and issues of the international surveyor community were reviewed and discussed at the Congress of the International Federation of Surveyors, and special focus was put on the motivation of the surveyors worldwide for improvement of the skills for “Geospatial World Transformation”, for which the best practices from different organizations were presented.

The Agency for Real Estate Cadastre held its presentation at the Congress titled “Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre Activities in Republic of Macedonia”. In addition, many meetings were realized, such as the one with the President of FIG, the General Command of Mapping of Republic of Turkey, the Turkish Cadastre, the Chamber of Surveying Companies in Turkey, as well as with the representatives of the Dutch, Swedish and Norwegian Cadastre.

Prof. Dr. Rudolf Steiger from Germany was elected as new President of FIG for the period 2019-2020 at the Congress with the majority of votes. It was also decided that the next FIG Congress in 2022 will be held in Cape Town, South Africa.
